The first Shucker Shuffle is in the books with 72 runners taking on the 7-mile course and South Mississippi humidity. A pair of Air Force Academy grads (Everson and Skold) shocked and awed the spectators with a record establishing time of 46:06 (6:35 pace) barely breaking a sweat. The two also were responsible for securing a victory for the Air Force in the Military Commander's Cup Competition. The top male runner (Fluker) also turned in an awesome time representing the US Navy in the Military Division with a time of 47:05. The winning relay team, Insanely Hot (Pfleeger & Gregg) finished in between the top female and male runners posting a time of 46:44.
We would like to thank all of the companies that supported the race: Golden Nugget Casino, Cajun Timing, Crown Awards, Allistons Printing, Signs Galore, and Isolated Impact. Also a big thanks to the volunteers on the race course.
We understand there are several areas in which we need to improve. With the low numbers, we were unable to provide beer, other drinks and snacks at the finish line. This is an area we are already working to improve the race experience for next year. As the numbers increase, we will expand the trophies awarded. Finally, we are working to improve the packet pickup process with advanced pickup of bibs and shirts. We are open to any ideas you may have as well. Please send your comments or suggestions for improve to our race email.
Thanks for participating and we look forward to all of you returning next year.
Packet Pickup will occur at the starting area at Point Cadet, Biloxi between 5:30 and 6:45 AM. Race bibs and shirts will be handed out prior to the race.
Race Day Registration will be open between 5:30 and 6:45 AM on race day. There will be a $5 surcharge added for all race day registrations. We will be able to accept all forms of payment (cash, check, debit/credit). Arrive early to avoid the lines.
